The Right Whale skeleton that has hung in the New England Aquarium was removed during a renovation of the main tank. The ancient skeleton was removed by riggers who were unable to unfasten the antique rusted nuts and bolts that held it together, so they cut them off. I have been given the task of reassembeling it and preparing it for rehanging. Wherever the pieces of antique hardware were saved I have been able to tig weld them back together saving the original intent and appearance of the artifact. Unfortunatly most of the hardware has beeen lost, necessitating hand fitting and adapting modern hardware pieces to each of the 28 ribs and other parts. We will also be fabricating new plate steel hanging brackets that will make the riggers task easier.
